Marshawn Lynch sits during the national anthem in Raiders preseason opener

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Raiders weren’t going to take any chances, so coach Jack Del Rio only used two offensive starters in Saturday night’s preseason-opening 20-10 loss to the Cardinals. Not only did quarterback Derek Carr, receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree and running back Marshawn Lynch sit this one out, but Lynch sat on the bench during the national anthem.

Del Rio was surprised that Lynch sat during the anthem and talked to him afterward. (Lynch was long gone by the time the locker room doors opened).

“He said, ‘This is something I have done for 11 years. It’s not a form of anything other than me being myself,’” Del Rio said. “I told him I very strongly believe in standing for the national anthem. But I respect him as a man and he can do his thing.

“So, it’s a non-issue for me.”

Joe Salisbury EMS just got dispatched with a shooting at 809 Gettysburg Ave.

A fire truck, paramedic unit and Assistant Chief 1 is responding.

Assistant Chief O'Barski just requested a second fire engine and a second medic unit.

Two fire trucks, 2 paramedic ambulances and an assistant chief. How many more people do you need for 1 person who got shot??

Assistant Chief 1 just told Central to advise PRMC of 1 Priority 1, nonbreathing patient being transported to PRMC with multiple gunshot wounds.

I'm getting sick of these black, liberal, overpaid traitors disrespecting our country. Please send them back to Ghana or somewhere.

I'm with 10:21.
10:58 please realize that they aren't sitting as a personal attack on you, or on the military or on their fellow citizens.

10:37 Must be so easy to go through life without an intelligent thought. The Constitution grants right to everyone.

10:21 I stopped watching the National Felony League many years ago. Overpaid thugs who can't do anything else in life. Sitting during the anthem? OK, that's your choice. My choice is to disrespect and ignore you.

He will continue to do this as long as "fans" buy tickets. He has the right to do this and fans have the right to buy tickets or not, and help support his center stage performance.

Just curious many support Confederates statues because those fought for what American values they believed in. They rebelled against America. Some (probably not Marshawn) are protests against America standing for what values they hold. America certainly isn't perfect, heck the winner of the presidential election ran on the platform "make America great again." So there are some things wrong with our country and while I don't like what they do I support their freedom to do it.

Right on 6:50 - What is Ray Lewis up to now? He is one of the biggest thugs to serve in the NFL. And, I just heard about Dallas' pride and joy Elliot being suspended. It appears there is a link between running back and domestic violence. I think some liberal should protest until the RB position is illegal.

just like the players today the NFL has no Balls
And I don't watch the pansy sport anymore.

Trained idiot eating a banana, you may not care DelRio but the fans damn sure do, then again it's Oakland the home of everything that's wrong with this country.

Oh it's now getting very common ..this domestic violence issues ..NFL want to make a statement and get it right ??.. Automatic 1 year suspension !! WITH NO APPEAL !! ..come on now ...6 games ..then appeal ,chopped down to 3 !! Now that's a JOKE !

Stop going and supporting the NFL. If they lose enough revenue, then maybe they will do something about this. I'm not going to spend the high cost of a ticket to see a traitor who refuses to stand and show respect for this country. Enough with political correctness, and enough with allowing this disrespect to continue.

Yes, behold the filthy rich oppressed man who has been cheated out of opportunities to succeed in life by the establishment. Tragic.

Welcome to America! Where you have freedom of speech, and no one can force you to participate... but you better do what we tell you or else!

You fake "patriots" and your fake "nationalism" have lost sight as to why America is great and what freedom really means.

For all you people praising his commitment and his right to speak and act freely, without fear --- are you still on that same page when it comes to Alt-Right gatherings and assemblies?
Free speech is for everyone all the time, not just for whom you may approve.
