Cuomo to Pardon, Restore Voting Rights to 35,000-Plus Felons on Parole

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D.) will be granting all convicted felons in the state who are on parole a pardon, a move that will restore voting rights to more than 35,000 people.

The pardons would allow Cuomo to work around the state legislature, which has not approved any such measure on criminal justice reform, the New York Times reports.

Under current New York law, convicted felons may only vote again after they have completed their parole or are on probation.

The executive order excludes parolees with certain firearms offenses.

"The pardons following this executive order and all future restorations of voting rights, shall not include rights with respect to the receipt, transportation or possession of firearms as provided by New York Penal Law Section 400," the order states.

Cuomo made the announcement on Wednesday to Al Sharpton's National Action Network's annual convention in New York City.

"I’m unwilling to take no for an answer," Cuomo said. "I’m going to make it law by executive order."

"With active intervention, we can bend the arc toward justice," Cuomo said.

The majority of Democrat voters have a criminal record.

Well, if you can't get the illegal aliens to vote for you, get the felons.

Totally discriminatory by stating that he excludes certain firearms offenses. Does this mean he is now judge and jury on criminal violations by classifying which ones are good and which ones are bad? Typical Democrat trying to get more Democrat voters

Thats what Obama did- make "law" the through executive action. See our local schools as proof of its positive impacts.

Are the Democrats really that hard up for votes. That along with illegals now they want convicted felons to vote for them. Really pathetic.

"Justice?" Hell, what he's done is a perversion of justice and the law. Giving "rights" to convicted felons and illegal aliens is what Democrats do, or try to do. I cannot believe that the ones that vote for them don't realize that voting for them is voting for criminals and illegals to take over our country. Democrats are going to vote themselves and America as we know it, out of existence. Are they really THAT stupid?

Obama can't make law, only the Legislative Branch can make law. When are you stupid RINO's going to learn that!

Trump's taking away his illegal alien votes, so I guess Cuomo is trying to make up for it with criminally disqualified voters. What a political ass, that Cuomo is. I guess he can't find enough dead voters to vote for him.

Congress does not have the power to force states to allow felons to vote in federal elections. The Constitution, including the Fourteenth Amendment, specifically delegates to the states the right to determine the qualifications of voters and to disqualify anyone who participates “in rebellion, or other crime.”

Yet they will not have to serve on Jury duty because they are on probation.

I think he meant bend the arc towards injustice. Democrats like to reward criminals perverts and scum bags for votes.
